state mourning for pope to be held in two phases

The three days’ State mourning starting from 3rd April 2005, announced by Government of India on the passing away of His Holiness Pope John Paul II shall now be held in two phases. It has been decided that the three days’ State mourning shall be observed as follows:

1. Two days’ State mourning on Sunday, the 3rd April 2005 and Monday 4th April 2005.

2. One day’s State mourning on the day of the funeral (to be notified separately).

The National Flag will fly half-mast throughout India on the days’ of the State mourning and there will be no official entertainment.
