The Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Culture, Shri S. Jaipal Reddy will inaugurate the Press Information Bureau Regional and Branch Officers’ Conference tomorrow. On this occasion, the Minister will also inaugurate the new intranet facility of PIB headquarters, which has been developed with the latest interactive technology. Press Information Bureau would be one of the first Central Government Organisations to have this very effective tool for communication between officers at the Headquarters and the 42 Regional and Branch offices of PIB spread throughout the country.
The two-day Conference would discuss the initiatives that need to be taken by the Press Information Bureau Headquarters and its Regional and Branch offices to meet the changing needs of an increasingly technology driven media.
During the Conference, various important issues relating to use of information technology for effective communication with the media at regional level, publicity coordination, upgradation of website, intranet, development of language websites, training software and hardware etc. will be discussed. The Conference will conclude on April 27, 2005.
