The Government will assist in setting up of 28873 units for creating 5.5 lakh additional employment opportunities under the Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP) in 2005-06. Under Prime Minister’s Rozgar Yojana (PMRY) programme the target is to assist in setting up of 2.5 lakh units for creating 3.75 lakh job opportunities in 2005-06. Approximately 50 per cent of these units will be in rural areas.
