The Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Thiru T. R. Baalu today held a Meeting with the Chief Minister of Orissa, Shri Naveen Patnaik regarding new and on-going road projects in Orissa.
During the Meeting, Shri Patnaik requested for 4/6-laning of Chandikhol-Paradeep road NH-5A, Chandikhol-Dhubri Road NH-200, Dhurbi Brahmanipal Harichandrapur Naranpur - Keonjhar State Road, Dhubri-Kamakhya Nagar-Talcher Road NH-200, and Cuttack-Paradeep State Highway 12.
Thiru Baalu informed the Chief Minister of Orissa that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is already developing the Chandikhol-Paradeep road to 4-lane. After completion of four-laning, if the traffic demands, six-laning will be considered in the second phase, Thiru Baalu assured. Shri Patnaik was further informed by the Minister that NH 200 from Chandikhol to Dhubri and NH 215 from Panikoili to Roxy will be considered under NHDP III by NHAI. The Dhubri to Talcher Section of NH 200 will be widened as per traffic need.
It was decided that State Government would develop the Dhubri-Keonjhar State road. It was also decided that the Paradeep to Cuttack State Highway 12 will be developed to 2-lanes with paved shoulder by the Orissa Government with partial assistance from the Union Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways.
