rites secures us $40 million contracts in angola for railway rehabilitation

The Rail India Technical and Economic Services Ltd. (RITES), the consultancy arm of the Indian Railway, has been awarded five contracts amounting to US$40 million by the Transport Ministry of Angola for implementing railway rehabilitation projects in CFM Railway, Angola.

The award of these contracts signals a major breakthrough for RITES in Angola. The US$ 40 million railway rehabilitation project is also one of the largest projects secured by RITES in recent years. The project envisages deployment of RITES experts as part of technical assistance for a period of 18 months, training of senior CFM officials in India, supply of diesel electric locomotives, five different types of passenger coaches, Diesel Multiple Unit train-sets, self-propelled Accident Relief Train, Workshop equipment, inspection cars, rail-cum-road vehicles and other equipment required for railway rehabilitation.
