The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today gave its approval for implementation of the Central Sector Scheme “Development and Strengthening of Infrastructure Facilities for Production and Distribution of Quality Seeds” in X Plan with a total outlay of Rs.159 crore.
The Scheme will help in increasing the production of breeder seed to about 19982 quintals, foundation seed to 8 lakh quintals, distribution of certified / quality seeds to 149.63 lakh quintals by the end of X Plan. The seed five per cent and the level of quality assurance of the seeds will increase in general.
