The President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has congratulated Pope Benedict XVI on his election as the Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church.
In his message, Dr. Kalam has said, “On the occasion of your election as Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church, I on behalf of the people and Government of India, extend to you our heartiest congratulations and felicitations. We rejoice in the renewal of the leadership for your Church and our best wishes for your Holiness’s success in the service of the Church and through it to service of humanity and international peace in the traditions of your illustrious predecessors.”
