This was stated in a written reply by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Shri K. rural areas 76.3% employed persons are engaged in agriculture, 11.4% in industry and 12.4% in services. In urban areas, 59.2% of employed persons are working in services sector while 32.2 % are engaged in industry and 8.8% in agriculture. The average wage/salary earnings per day received by regular wage salaried employees in the age group of 15 to 59 years is Rs. 165.05 in urban areas and Rs. 125.31 in rural areas. In urban areas, the maximum per day average wage of Rs. 263.87 is provided in services sector followed by Rs. 257.16 in mining & quarrying group and Rs. 246.86 in electricity, gas and water supply group. In rural areas, the maximum per day average wage of Rs. 197.54 is provided in electricity, gas and water supply group followed Chandrasekhar Rao, in Lok Sabha today.
