Ministry of Urban Employment & Poverty Alleviation has assisted more than the targeted population under Swarna Jayanti Shahari Rozgar Yojana (SJSRY) during the first three years of 10th plan. During the 10th five year plan, a target of providing employment opportunities to 4 lakh urban poor through setting up of micro/group enterprises and to impart skill training to 5 lakh persons were fixed under SJSRY. So far during the first three years of 10th plan, as against the cumulative target of setting up of 2.40 lakh micro enterprises and providing skill upgradation training to 3 lakh urban poor, 2.974 lakh micro enterprises have been set up and 3.558 lakh urban poor have been provided skill training. Budget allocation for this programme which has been under implementation since 1.12.1997 is Rs. 160 crore during this financial year. The cumulative progress of the scheme in financial and physical terms is as below:

· Central share released under SJSRY - Rs. 822.98 crore

· State share released under SJSRY - Rs. 291.43 crore

· Total (unspent + Central + State) - Rs. 1655.76 crore

· Expenditure reported - Rs. 1387.52 crore

· Balance funds - Rs. 268.24 crore

· Expenditure - 83.80%

· No. of beneficiaries identified - 337.79 lakh

· No. of beneficiaries under USEP - 5,70,590

· No. of beneficiaries trained - 7,01,096

· No. of women beneficiaries of

· DWCUA groups formed - 36,710

· No. of mandays of work generated

under wage employment scheme - 532.50 lakh

· Thrift & Credit societies formed - 1,28,181
