India and Cuba will sign a programme of co-operation in the field of sports very soon. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be signed to promote collaboration in the fields of sports, physical education and training etc.
This was decided at a meeting between the Cuban Ambassador H.E. Mr. Jual Carretero Ibanez and the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Sunil Dutt here today. The Cuban Ambassador called on the Sports Minister to follow up the decisions taken earlier during the Joint Commission Meetings and invited him to Cuba for signing of the MoU, covering both - development of Sports and Youth Affairs.
During the Meeting, Shri Sunil Dutt praised the performance of Cuban Sportspersons especially the athletes who have excelled in Boxing, Volleyball and Basketball. India has presently engaged one coach from Cuba in the discipline of Boxing.
