As per the directives of the Hon,ble Supreme Court given in the case of J.C. Malik, (where Ministry of Railways was a party) the Post Based Rosters has been implemented based on the principles lais down in R.K. Sabbarwals case. However, the same could not be implemented in case of Group B services where the cadre strength is not fixed.
The total number of candidates selected under rule 70 &72 in the said Railways viz. Northern Railway, North Eastern Railway, North-east Frontier Railway and South Central Railway, during the last three years i.e. 2002 to 2004 and the number of Scheduled Casters (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) candidates amongst them are as under: -
