Realizing that a healthy person can be a better investigator, CBI has launched several initiatives to keep its officials fit. As a part of this venture, the investigative agency organized a daylong free health check-up camp for its employees and their family members who are located in Delhi. About 500 men, women and children had their health checked by experts from the city’s Escorts hospital, Ram Manohar Lohia hospital and the Central Government Health Scheme hospital. Cardiological, dermatological and pediatric checks were carried out by 14 doctors besides conduct of tests like blood sugar, serum cholesterol, ECG and echocardiography. The Director of CBI, Shri U.S.Misra inaugurated the health camp and went round to see the facilities and encourage the persons undergoing checks.

Patients were given medicines free of costs and if further investigation was required, they were referred to the CGHS facilities. Organized by the CBI Ladies’ Welfare Association the camp was a follow up of a similar camp organized during July last exclusively for women which was a great success. Under the leadership of Smt. Gayatri Misra, the President of the Association, several welfare activities have been carried out including organization of a stress management Programme, cultural programmes etc. in the past. With the initiative of the Association and the efforts of the Director, CBI, a CGHS dispensary was set up in the CBI residents’ colony at Vasant Vihar last year whch has made life easier for the residents of the colony as they don’t have to trudge long distance, especially during night.

Shri Misra also inaugurated a welfare center in the colony (Vasant Vihar) on the occasion. Initially the center would offer vocational training in sewing and knitting to women and girls and would later be expanded to offer training in classical dance and music. Shri Misra also visited a stall put up by the Police Families Welfare Society where several items were on display for sale. Shri Misra lauded the efforts of the society.
