A High Level Committee has been constituted under the Chairmanship of Justice Rajender Sachar to study the social, economic and educational status of Muslim Community. The Committee comprises six members besides the Chairman.
The time fixed for the Committee to submit its report is15 months with effect from the date of its notification, i.e. March 9, 2005.
In accordance with the terms of reference of the Committee, it will obtain relevant information from relevant sources including from departments/agencies of the Central and State Governments.
This was stated in a written reply by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Smt. Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan in Rajya Sabha today.
