CBI ARRESTS FOOD CORPORATION OFFICER ACCEPTING BRIBE

CBI today arrested an Assistant Manager (Civil), Food Corporation of India (FCI), Kurukshetra, Haryana while accepting bribe of Rs.25,000/- from a private contractor to release his security amount of rupee one lakh which was due from the FCI. The officer concerned was caught red-handed at the FCI Campus at Pipli, Distt. Kurukshetra The contractor had executed a contract for construction of a road in FCI Campus, Pipli for an amount of Rs.15 lakh and completed the work in March,2004 and his security deposit of rupee one lakh was lying with the FCI which was returnable in the first week of April, 2005. For returning the security deposit of Rs.one lakh of the contractor, the Assistant Manager, FCI had demanded a bribe of Rs.25,000/-. The contractor subsequently approached CBI with a complaint.
