The details of cars stolen from Delhi, those recovered and the rate of detection during the last three years and upto 31st March, 2005 are given below:

The growth of vehicle population in Delhi, inadequate and insecure parking space and ready market for second hand vehicles are some of the factors leading to a high level of car thefts. Police face difficulty in recovering the stolen vehicles, as these are mostly disposed of at far away places after changing the registration number.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Home, Shri S. Regupathy in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.
