Shri B.B. Tandon, presently Election Commissioner has been appointed Chief Election Commissioner in the Election Commission of India. He will assume the charge of the post with effect from the afternoon of May 16, 2005 on the vacancy that will be caused by the retirement of the present Chief Election Commissioner, Shri T.S. Krishnamurthy.
