14 Central Sector Projects costing Rs.100 crore and above i.e. 7 in Road Transport 6 Power and one in Petroleum reported additional delays in the range of one to six months during February, over the completion dates reported in the previous month. 219 projects did not report any additional delay.
The Flash Report for February 2005 issued by the Project Monitoring Division, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, which carried information on the status of 333 Central Sector Projects also said that five new projects i.e. three from Telecom and two from coal have been taken up for monitoring, while four from power and one from Road Transport taken off its monitor during the month under report, following completion.
According to the Flash Report, seven National Highway Development packages slipped between one to four months though they were on the verge of completion. However, completion of nine packages of the Golden Quadrilateral Project has slipped beyond December this year.
In Power, three Hydro Electric Projects and three Transmission-line Projects slipped between one to six months. However, the Dhauliganga Hydro Electric Project, the Dhauliganga-Bareily Transmission Line and Madurai-Thiruvananthapuram 400 KV DC Line, are nearing completion. The anticipated dates of commissioning of the Tehri Hydro Electric Project, the Dhauliganga Hydro Power Project and the Dulhasti Hydro Project have since been shifted to July, April and September, this year.
The Dahej-Hazira-Uran Pipeline Project in the Petroleum Sector has also been delayed by two more months and now expected to be ready by October 2006.
The Ministry has alerted the concerned departments to take appropriate steps to prevent further slippages in the projects reporting additional delays.
