The Government has nominated 18 Social Scientists as Members of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) for a period of three years with effect from April 5, 2005. They are : Dr. Javed Alam, CIEFL, Hyderabad; Prof. Teesta Bagchi, Delhi University; Prof. B.B. Bhattacharaya, Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi; Prof. Sharit Bhowmik, University of Mumbai; Prof. Kamal Mitra Chinoy, J.N.U.; Dr. Ganesh Devvy, Adivasi Academy & Bhasha Research & Publication Centre, Vadodara, Gujarat; Shri Rajeev Dhawan, Advocate, Supreme Court; Prof. P.P. Ghosh, ADRI, Patna; Shri D.R. Goyal, New Delhi; Shri Sanjay Hazarika, Delhi; Prof. M.A. Kalam, Madras University; Prof. John Kattakayam, University of Kerala; Prof. K.N. Nair, Director, CDS, Trivandrum, Shri A.G. Noorani, Supreme Court Advocate, Mumbai; Prof. Sharmial Rege, Pune University; Dr. E.A.S. Sarma, Former Secretary, Govt. of India; Prof. Ravi Srivastava, J.N.U.; and Ms. Madhura Swaminathan, ISI, Kolkata.
In addition, Shri B.S. Baswan, Education Secretary, MHRD; Smt. Reva Nayar, Secretary, WCD, MHRD;, Prof. Kamla Prasad, Vice Chairman, Kendriya Hindi Sansthan; Prof. Udai Narayan Singh, Director, CIIL, Mysore; Prof. Krishna Kumar, Director, NCERT and Shri Sanat Kumar Ray, Joint Secretary and Financial Advisor, MHRD have been nominated as Representatives of the Government of India at ICSSR.
