The Government has issued a Notification on 28th March, 2005 dereserving 108 items (including 10 sub items) ranging from textile products to agricultural implements from the list of items reserved for exclusive manufacture in the small scale sector. The objective of the dereservation is to enhance competitiveness of the manufacturing of these products by freeing these items from the limitations of investment etc. With the deletion of these items, the number of items reserved for exclusive manufacture in the small-scale sector is now 506.
It may be recalled that the Finance Minister had announced in his Budget Speech that 108 items would be dereserved from SSI Sector.
