Upgradation of defence equipment is a continuous process depending on available technology, threat perception and availability of funds. The fleet of T-72 tanks is being upgraded and modernized to include the fitment of Thermal Imager Stand Alone System, advanced engines and installation of Auto Land Navigation System for Command and Control Tanks etc.
This information was given by the Defence Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee in a written reply to Shri Kuldeep Bishnoi in Lok Sabha today.
