Shahrukh Khan has been long believed to be close to Sonia Gandhi and her offpsirngs, Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi.
This is among the rare occasions when he has gone on record to express admiration for the Congress President.
"There is an image of her that I'd like to repeat again and again - on a bus, in an election rally and with children, which is a very strong emotion to me as I am attached to the figure of a mother. For me she is a strong lady, someone you can admire," Shahrukh told Karan Thapar in an interview broadcast on CNN-IBN 'Devil's Advocate'.
Shahrukh Khan was reiterating what he had said some time ago and clarified that he had said this in an apolitical sense.
Shahrukh also clarified that his statement had nothing to do with Sonia and the Congress being in power.
Shahrukh Khan has had Sonia and her family as dinner guests at 'Mannat' his bungalow and speculation has been rife that he may join the Congress party soon and eventually get nominated to the Rajya Sabha.
