Amendment to prevention of food adulteration rules

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued a notification to amend Rules 65 of the Prevention of Food Adulteration Rules, 1955 relating to Maximum Residues Limit/Tolerance Limits for pesticides/insecticides in different articles of food. Under rule 65 of the PFA, Rules 1955 Maximum tolerance residue level of 121 different insecticides/pesticides in different articles of food has been prescribed.

By this notification, Maximum Residues Limits for 16 more pesticides registration Committee under insecticides Act, 1968, have been prescribed in different articles of food, under the PFA Rules. These rules will come into force from the date their publication in the gazette of India viz. 13.10.2006.

The notification has been published in Part II, section 3, sub-section (i) of the Gazette of India Extraordinary, vide GSR No.633 (E) dated 13.10.2006. This notification is also available on Website of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare www.mohfw.nic.in
