Sania Mirza, fifth seeded, was defeated in an upset of sorts at the hands of Michaella Krajicek of the Netherlands in the second round of USD 200,000 Istanbul Cup tennis championship yesterday.
Sania Mirza ranked 38 returned to the courts after a three week break from the game. Sania Mirza last month had issued a statement that this year her target was only to 'hang in there in the top 50' disappointing fans and admirers.
Sania Mirza's next game is the French Open Grand Slam beginning on Sunday.
