The Multiplex Association of Gujarat has declared not to screen Bollywood actor Aamir Khan's Fanaa in multiplexes across the state. The film is set for release on 26 May.

The Association has taken the said decision after violent protests were witnessed in different cities of Gujarat, including Ahmedabad and Vadodara, following Aamir’s comments against the Gujarat government and Chief Minister Narendra Modi few weeks back.

President of multiplex association of Gujarat Manubhai S Patel said that the decision was taken after 22 members of the association consisting of representatives from different multiplexes arrived at a consensus on the matter.

Patel said some of the multiplexes in Gujarat had to stop the screening of Aamir Khan's film Rang De Basanti mid-way after an agitation against the actor over his remarks in connection with the Narmada dam intensified.

"We do not want the property of multiplexes to be damaged nor do we want movie-buffs coming to see other movies harassed in any manner," Patel said.
