Mumbai: Lata Mangeshkar proved that she doesn't care a damn for ethics when it comes to her neck. She denied the story Subhash K Jha, a veteran journalist known for his committment and admiratiobn for didi wrote about Lata ji threatening to leave Mumbai if a flyover was built at Peddar Road. Initially, she didn't deny the story but over the next couple of days, after a very negative public response, she took the easy way out.

Describing the story as "baseless and fictitious", and had a cheek to attack the "ethics" of "today's journalism".

In a signed statement faxed to newspaper offices Lata has said, "I have not spoken to any journalist... and have not given any opinion on the matter. I do not know who is behind generating such quotes and reactions in my name. But I am deeply pained by the entire episode and deny all statements issued in my name so far on the Peddar Road issue."

Though publicly humiliated Jha, despite standing by his story, continues to remain loyal to her and is not wiling to contradict her as he has too much love and respect for Lata ji to contradict what she says.
