Eyewitness misses Salman court hearing

An eye-witness in the hit-and-run case involving actor Salman Khan on Thursday failed to appear in the court for the fourth time despite a non-bailable warrant issued against him by a local court prompting the Magistrate to adjourn the hearing to March 16. Ravindra Patil was supposed to remain present in the court here as Salman's lawyer was to continue with his cross-examination. But Patil did not turn up, and the case was adjourned till March 16.

The warrant against him also continues, Salman's lawyer Deepesh Mehta said. The court had issued non-bailable warrant against Patil on February 7 when he failed to turn up. Again on February 10, he did not appear and the court re-issued the warrant by asking him to appear on February 16. Even on that day he failed to come to the court. Salman Khan "is charged with killing one person and injuring four by ramming his car into a bakery in Bandra in 2002. Patil, is an eye witness in the case as he was accompanying Salman when the actor met with an accident by ramming his car into a bakery killing one person and injuring four on September 28, 2002.
