Indian Shooter, Gagan Narang fresh from Commonwealth glory registered his first ever world cup victory in the ten metre air rifle event to claim gold in Guangzhou, China. Narang collected 597 points in the qualification round and 103. 2 in the final. He overcame a stiff competition from the local favourite, Liu Tianyou. Liu took the silver while Russia's Artem Khadjibekov grabbed the bronze. With this win, Narang secured a berth in the next Olympic Games to be held in Beijing in 2008.
