Preity Zinta is playing mother to Hrithik Roshan in Krrish, the movie where Rakesh Roshan and superstar son Hrithik Roshan come together again. Krrish is the sequel to Koi Mil Gaya and Hrithik will play the son of the characters which he and Preity played in Koi Mil Gaya.

This reminds me of the Nagina and Nigahen sequel by the late Harmesh Malhotra. 'Nagina' starring Sridevi and Rishi Kapoor was a huge hit at the box office when it was released. Harmesh Malhotra came up with 'Nigahen' where Sridevi played the daughter of Rishi Kapoor and her own character from the original 'Nagina'. Sunny Deol played her love interest in the sequel. The audience, however, rejected the follow up to the original hit and it was taken off movie theatres within a few weeks.

Another actress going up the age ladder is Rekha who will be playing grandmother to Hrithik Roshan. This comes as a surprise considering the jaded Rekha insisted on playing sister to Mallika Sherawat in last year's disaster comedy caper 'Bach Ke Rehna Re baba' despite the producer Boney Kapoor being keen on casting her as Mallika Sherawat's mother. The movie was a copy of Heartbreakers starring Sigourney Weaver and Jennifer Love Hewitt where the two played mother and daughter.

While on Krrish, we learn that Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya were the original cast for Krrish Aishwarya apparently refused to give a screen test to Rakesh Roshan. As a result it was out Aishwarya and advantage Priyanka Chopra . Aishwarya has been known to give her producers a tough time and Priyanka is considered as a person with no hangups.

Speaking about the cast change, Rakesh Roshan has said, "Yes, I did approach Aishwarya for the role and she was very keen on doing it. She also had her international commitments. Hrithik is doing just one film at a time, so I had all his time and had to match his dates with the female lead. Priyanka willingly gave me all the dates, I required. As regards the screen test, we didn't even reach that level. Ash is a fantastic person and Hrithik will be working with her in 'Dhoom 2' and 'Akbar Jodha'."

A screen test is the standard procedure I go through for all my films. I see him as Duggu at home, but I needed to see whether he suited the character with make-up and in a costume. I am a thorough professional and so is Duggu." Krrish remains one of the most awaited movies of 2006 despite Karan Johar's 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' being slated for release soon.
