Mahima Chaudhary's new movie Souten has generated more interest than any other skin flick on recent times.
Produced by Naveen Tak, nephew of filmmaker-lyricist Saawan Kumar Tak, Souten is directed by Karan Razdan who has earlier directed 'Girlfriend' a film Amrita Arora has yet to live down and 'Hawas' which was Meghna Naidu's debut film.
Mahima Chaudhary had lashed out at Karan Razdan for allegedly using camera angles that made her look vulgar.
In his defence Karan says "I have known Mahima even before Pardes. She is herself too disturbed to be lashing out at me so viciously. She was well aware of what the film was about. Her tirade doesn’t disturb me but my producer was really upset by the controversy. She insisited on having plunging necklines in every scene against my better judgement. Now she says it makes her look vulgar. I don’t wish to be associated with her in the future.'
In Souten Mahima Chaudhary plays the other woman. Newcomer Vikram Singh plays Mahima's stepdaughter Sapna's (Kiran Rathod) boyfriend.
As a jealous stepmother, Mahima's character is shown as resenting the attention her stepdaughter gets from a young man
because she herself is involved with the middle-aged Thakur Ranbeer Singh. She is also shown as seducing her daughter's boyfriend.
Sources say that the dispute between Karan Razdan and Mahima Chaudhary is just a publicity stunt to boost the film's prospects at a time when there is a glut of skin flicks. Bollywood baddie Gulshan Grover who plays the middle aged thakur has done his own bit for the film's publicity, going so far as to claim that he has “proposed marriage to Mahima at least 21 times!”
