Sachin Tendulkar had some reason to cheer up after the poor performance and public booing recently. Lata Mangeshkar, speaking at a function held to felicitate Sachin Tendulkar said she was a big fan of Sachin.
"I am a big fan of yours. I don't know much about cricket. But when you bat I stay glued to the TV screen. I forget to take bath and have my meal," Lata said. She handed over a golden bat to the master blaster.
Lata hoped Sachin would make a strong comeback and offered her best wishes for the surgery on Tendulkar's shoulder. "Every human being goes through ups and downs in life. No man can escape that. I give my best wishes for the operation to be performed in London," the melody queen said.
Sachin Tendulkar became emotional speaking about his childhood days and thanked his family members and friends for their support.
"I won't be where I am without the support of all my family members, my coach Ramakant Achrekar who used to drag me from my home to practice at nets and all my friends who have stood by me all these years". Tendulkar said.
Tendulkar's mother, wife Anjali, brothers Nitin and Ajit were present at the function organised to felicitate him for reaching the milestone of scoring the 35th Test century. Also present were one time cricket captain and coach Ajit Wadekar, test cricketer Ajit Agarkar and many of Tendulkar's schoolmates, including Vinod Kambli.
Sachin Tendulkar presented mementos to 10 senior Marathi sports journalists at the function organised by the Marathi Sports Journalists Association. Sachin Tendulkar said he didn't know if he really deserved all this praise and that it brought tears to his eyes.
