Long ridiculed for their sluggish work culture and alleged corruption, The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to boost its image before commencing the ambitious Mumbai makeover plan. The BMC image makeover plan will cost Rs.36 lakhs per annum.

BMC has been getting bad press and jarring remarks about its functioning for years. The country's richest civic body has now hired a public relations firm company to give it a corporate image.

Mumbai-based Sankalp PR agency has been assigned this task. BMC has a full-fledged public relations wing, which is headed by a director-level official but it had long been considering hiring the services of a PR agency to lift up its sagging image.

The BMC has got 24 wards including 117 departments. The PR agency would deal with all of these.
