The Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted interim relief to former BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya till March 23 in the case of alleged misappropriation of funds to the tune of Rs 26 lakhs for transactions that took place during the 1996 World Cup.

Hearing Dalmiya's plea, Judge V M Kanade adjourned the anticipatory bail petition to March 23 and directed police not to arrest him until then.

Niranjan Shah, BCCI's secretary along with another board official, had filed an FIR against Dalmiya at Marine Drive police station on March 16. According to the FIR, the funds were allegedly misappropriated in connivance with others by preparing false records. The charges relate to criminal breach of trust, cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy.
