Rahul Mahajan, son of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan has been admitted to Apollo Hospital, Delhi in a critical condition.
Pramod Mahajan's secretary Vivek Moitra has died. Both Moitra and Mahajan were rushed to Apollo hospital after they apparently suffered from food poisoning. Vivek Moitra suffered a heart stroke and was declared dead on arrival.
Sources described Rahul Mahajan as 'critical but stable'
A bottle of champagne was recovered by the Delhi police from the residence. The severant is now being questioned.
Attempts are being made to try and locate the two friends who had been invited to dinner.
Rahul Mahajan's family has reached Delhi with his uncle, Gopinath Munde, BJP leader. Moitra's body has been sent for a post-mortem.
Delhi police said some "white powder" has been recovered from Pramod Mahajan's home where a party was held last night. There is speculation that this 'white powder' may be drugs.
Rahul and Moitra's clothes have been seized to analyse possible vomit on it. The evidence in the case has been tampered with and this may hamper the investigation, police sources said.
Rahul Mahajan attended the BJP national executive meeting in Delhi a few days ago. His name was suggested for a Rajya Sabha seat by the BJP following the killing of his father, BJP leader Pramod Mahajan but the Congress and NCP turned this down.
