A little bird has given us a story no one is writing for obvious reasons.
Ajay Devgan is under a gun.
Big money is being spent to ruin Omkara at the box office. It all started when Omkara started getting rave reviews with four and five stars. Devgan, till then, was considered a `lesser` star despite giving scores of intense performances and even getting two national awards. It is an open secret that industry is divided into camps and the green-eyed monster is always active. The word is that some film journalists-publicist have been hired to organise negative publicity for Omkara.
Money is also to be spent to have hired female audience getting up midway and leaving the cinema houses saying that there were too many gaalis in the film. Posters and hoardings are also to be torn or damaged.
No names are being mentioned but Devgan camp might be able to guess the people behind the anti-publicity.
Frankly, implicit in this move is the fact that someone is scared Ajay Devgan overtaking him.
This is not the first time that star wars have been fought with Machiavellian manipulations.
It happened between Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna. It also happened to Raj Kapoor.
RK films’ Mera Naam Joker was sabotaged on the day of release. Someone spent a lot of money to get tickets in advance booking and then organizing the sale of ticket at lower rates! The rumours spread that black marketters are selling the tickets too cheap. Raj Kapoor, off the record, mentioned the name of a big Punjabi filmmaker and could never forgive him.
Not only Ajay Devgan, even Akshay Kumar may face the same problem in future. His comment that Khans are not the only guarantee for a hit has not gone down well with Khans.
