Rains kill 81 throughout country

While Mumbai has returned to normalcy after the rains that lashed the city for three days throwing everything out of gear, throughout India, rains have wreaked havoc and 81 people have died.

Deaths in Orissa, Maharashtra and Gujarat have been due to a gamut of reasons including lightning strikes, electrocution and drowning. Maharashtra has seen 28 people dying due to the rains while 32 people have died in Orrisa. Over 3700 houses were destroyed by the rains.

Main low lying houses in Mumbai have been flooded with water, in some cases as high as five feet.
