India's largest software company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has set a target of $10 billion in revenues by the year 2010. About 10 % of the revenue will accrue from the e-governance business according to Tanmoy Chakrabarty, vice-president (global government industry group), TCS.

During the whole of last year TCS earned less than $200 million through its e-governance practice. The world market for e-governance pie is estimated at over 180 billion, of which Indian companies account for less than 1%.

Other IT majors in the same league as TCS including Infosys, Wipro, Satyam and HCL have a small share of e-governance in their overall sales. Infosys Technologies doesn’t have a government vertical.

Infosys does Pro bono work for the government but as a company doesn't have a separate government vertical.

Wipro's e-governance sales are at about 10% of their annual sales at Rs.350 crores.
