Alleged murderer of schoolgirl kills himself

A 22-year old boy, who was charged with the daylight murder of a 15-year old school girl for refusing his advances, killed himself soon after the incident.

Chinnu alias Premchand Shivpujan Mourya (22), suspected to be behind the murder of Sundari Tripathi, committed suicide by jumping before a local at the Kurla station in northeast Mumbai last night, according to a report in The Hindu.

Mourya allegedly killed Sundari, who was on her way to tuition classes in suburban Saki Naka around 4.30 pm yesterday, by stabbing her seven times in her neck and chest with a knife.

A compounder with a local physician, Mourya was a resident of the same locality as Sundari's - Yadavnagar - and is suspected to have proposed Sundari earlier, police said.

The police had initially said that Chinnu was involved in the murder along with his younger brother Chandan (18) but eye witnesses confirmed only the former's involvement, they said. .

Sundari's body will be handed over to her family after autopsy today and the police hope to find more leads once her family members are questioned.
