Mumbai, Jan 30: Mumbai Police will not provide security to gangster-turned-politician, Arun Gawli, when he goes to Bangalore to undergo a lie detection test tomorrow on in connection with the alleged conspiracy hatched by starlet Preeti Jain with a former Gawli aide to kill film director Madhur Bhandarkar.

"His association with the underworld is known ad he is still an accused in two case filed by us (Mumbai Police). There is no such precedence (to provide security to an accused), and we do not feel that there is need to provide him a security cover," a senior police official said today.

Police was set to make Gawli take the lie detection test on January 31 at the Forensic Science Laboratory at Bangaloare and has served a notice to him last week to appear for the test, through which it (police) plans to get clues whether the Chinchpoli MLA has any role in the murder plot.

Gawli had requested the Mumbai Police for cover.

However, senior Mumbai Police officials said that the request for protection will be rejected.

Sources said that rather than rejecting his demand for security, the Mumbai Police is likely to ignore the issue and not reply to the written demand made by Gawli.
