Sardar Malik, the father of well-known music director Anu Mallik, Daboo and Abu who was among the leading music directors during ‘50s, died of cardiac arrest at the age of 81 years.
Sardar Malik was suffering from Parkinsons disease for several years and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Juhu where he breathed his last.
Sardar Malik is best remembered for his music in films like 'Saranga' and 'Bachpan' in the late 50s. His songs in Mukesh's voice - 'Saranga teri yaad mein' and 'Haan Diwana Hoon Main' were very popular in those days. The song 'Mujhe Kuch Hosh Nahi' from 'Bachpan', sung by Mohammed Rafi, also used to be on everybody's lips.
Malik was laid to rest on Saturday morning at the Santacruz graveyard and was attended by family members and friends including film fraternity personalities like Javed Akhtar, Sonu Nigam, Abhijeet, Sunidhi Chauhan and filmmaker Mohan
kumar.
