Sadhu held for selling forged rail tickets

An alert ticket collector caught a handicapped sadhu on the charge of selling forged old railway tickets to passengers.

The accused has reportedly been committing the crime since last two years. Ticket collector (TC) Vimal Ramnarayan Kapur said that he caught the sadhu while checking tickets of the passengers of Pushpak Express at Kalyan station. Kapur suspected that the tickets held by the sadhu and his co-passenger were forged and hence he started inquiring them. Fearing arrest, the sadhu offered a bribe of Rs 1000 to the TC who immediately summoned RPF jawans and handed over both the accused to them. During interrogation, the sadhu revealed that the tickets were backdated and that he had cheated his co-passenger by selling the forged tickets. TC Anil Garg informed that according to railway rules, a handicapped person and his attendant are given concession in railway fare.

Taking advantage of this, the sadhu who has been identified as Ramkishan Ramdulari Yadav, a resident of Thane, used to Wait near ticket counters and lure passengers to travel on his extra ticket by paying him the fare amount. The sadhu then used to forge backdated tickets and sell them to the passengers.

ASI Shashikala Bagul, who is investigating into the case, said that police have seized 46 backdated tickets form the accused.

Mohammad Sabir, who was travelling with the accused on a fake ticket, alleged that the sadhu might also used to rob his co-passengers as he had offered him some sweets and biscuits.
