The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti staged demonstrations outsite Shree Siddhivinayak temple on Friday demanding dissolution of the present temple management. Those protesting demanded that devotees be included in the managing committee of Shree Siddhivinayak temple. This was in reaction to reports of alleged corruption at the trust managing the temple.
The two dat temple summit being hosted by Shree Siddhivinayak temple trust has also met with opposition from The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti who accused to management of promoting materialism by organizing this event a five star hotel. The Samiti also came accused the trust of 'conspiring to merge temples into tourist spots'.
Samiti spokesperson Ramesh Shinde said ruling party politicians were using the trust to further their own interests and that Hindu sentiments were hurt at this wasteful expenditure of organising the sumit at a five star hotel. This is expected to entail a cost of 16-17 lakhs.
The summit, being organised by the Siddhivinayak temple trust, will focus on the measures of promoting temple tourism, management of crowd in temples and disaster planning. CEOs and chief functionaries of all major temple trusts managing holy temples all over the country have been invited.
