Three Indian women sportspersons tennis ace Sania Mirza, pugilist MC Mary Kom and former shuttler Madhumita Bisht were conferred the coveted Padma Shree awards in the day.
Apart from the trio, Bahadur Singh (shot put) and Mohan Singh Gunjyal (adventure sports) are also among the sportspersons to receive the award.
Meanwhile, industrialist and aviator Vijaypat Singhania has been selected for the Padma Bhushan award on the eve of the Republic Day.
