Mumbai: While Hindustan Times caught the Super Cop Daya Nayak care free at what seemed like a party, Nayak from the choice of lawyers has implied that he comes in the category of superrich.
The lawyers going to defend him include an eminent senior counsel Shirish Gupte, who was the additional solicitor general when BJP was in power at Centre.
Gupte, in the past, has defended diamond merchant and film financer Bharat Shah when the later was arrested under MOCCA. The other high profile solicitors on the team are Ashok Mundargi and Shyam Marwadi.
These lawyers are among the most expensive lawyers and charge by the hour.
Meanwhile, the sessions court on Tuesday ordered Daya Nayak , Komal Nayak and Rajendra Padte to remain present in the court on Wednesday. The prosecution had demanded that since the matter is to come up for final disposal, it was necessary for applicant to be present in the court.
Judge S P Mahajan had set aside the matter for Wednesday afternoon and no interim order has been passed. However, the Prosecution gave a verbal assurance to the court and even to defence lawyers that the police won't arrest Daya Nayak till Wednesday afternoon. The court could later decide on the status of the case and the interim order.
