Usually when an Amitabh Bachchan film fails – as has happened to his last release Ek Ajnabee – his next release is brought forward so that the flop can be wished away. But this time, the release date of FAMILY - TIES OF BLOOD, partly home produced, has been delayed!

The original date of release was 23rd December.

The other producer of the film, Keshu decided to postpone the release date of from December 23 to January 2006, he was keen to make it in the first week of the new year [January 6].

But the Mumbai distributors of FAMILY [Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision Ltd.] were adamant: They didn't want the film to release in the first week since the period [first week of new year] is considered jinxed in industry circles. In the past, a majority of films released in the first week of January have failed.

The release was shifted to January 12.
