Mumbai: A flash strike was called this morning by the Resident doctors of the Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) owned King Edward Memorial (KEM) and Bhabha Hospital to protest beating up of two of their colleagues allegedly by relatives of patients.

Dadasaheb Shivjatak, a Public Relation Officer at BMC said a doctor of KEM Hospital in South Mumbai was beaten up at around 8:00 p.m., while a lady doctor was assaulted at Bhabha Hospital in suburban Bandra early today. Delay in providing proper treatment was the cause of the attack.

Mr Shivjatak said Dean of KEM Nilima Kshrisagar and Superintendent of Bhabha Hospital A Mallik are negotiating with the representatives of the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) to withdraw the strike.
