Mumbai: This is case of an extra marital affair that leads to murder attempt, and accused are the wife 25-years-old Shivani Sarkar and her lover Bhaskar Pujari. Shivani was a waitress in Kalash Bar at Kandivli and Pujari was the manager there.
Govind Sarkar was asleep at his home at Kandivli when an assailant barged into his home and attacked him. Two days later when the cops tracked down his attackers, Sarkar was shocked to find that his own wife had plotted the assault along with her lover.
The police sources told Parinda , Sarkar, who works as a chauffeur, was asleep at his Bunder Pakhadi residence on Saturday after returning home late from work when he sensed a sharp pain in his jaw.
His neighbours came down and took a bleeding Govind to a nursing home. The deep cut on his jaw was the result of being attacked with a sharp weapon. After Sarkar approached the police, investigators quizzed his wife and relatives to find out if he had any enemies.
Sarkar's wife, 25-year-old Shivani, said she was out on the day of the incident and knew nothing. The cops found her statement suspicious and started probing.
"We discovered that Govind and Shivani used to fight a lot. He wanted to return to his hometown in Kolkata but Shivani wanted to stay in Mumbai," said assistant inspector George Fernandes.
The police got hold of Shivani's cell phone number and checked her phone records. They found frequent calls from a particular number, which had been switched off after the day of the assault.
Police contacted the mobile service provider and found that the number belonged to one Bhaskar Pujari. Pujari worked as a bar manager in Kalash bar at Kandivli. They also discovered that Shivani was a waitress in the same bar. On investigation, the police found that Shivani had an extra-marital affair with Pujari for over a year. She would constantly complain about being ill-treated by her husband, and eventually convinced Pujari to kill him.
Pujari was traced to his relative's house in Charkop and arrested him. He and Shivani have been remanded to police custody.
