Mumbai: A local court on Friday acquitted all the accused, arrested in connection with rioting in the Agripada area here following the Babri Masjid demolition incident in 1993. Session judge J S Kalyanpur acquitted all the accused for lack of evidence. The police officers had failed to recognise the accused and no seizures were made from them. In all 27 persons were accused as per recommendations of the Sri Krishna Commission report under various sections of IPC including murder and Arms Act. Out of the 27 accused in this case, six had died during and before the start of trial, seven persons were absconding and fourteen were acquitted on Friday.
