Mumbai: Controversies continue to dog film actress Manisha Koirala even when she is almost out of work.

The actress has been provided police security in the wake of protests by a section of the people following a media report claiming she had named her pet dog after a revered Muslim figure.

Policemen have been deployed at Koirala's residence to prevent any problem following protests over the name of her pet dog, Additional Commissioner of Police Bipin Bihari said on Tuesday.

A report in Times of India, written in the wake of Raveena Tandon's pet that was lost and found) - also a page one story for the news media - had mentioned that the name of the dog. All hell broke lose after the story as the reporter was picked up by the police from her residence and later released on bail. The lady reporter was arrested even after TOI published an apology. The apology and the report of the reporter's arrest didn't mention the name given to dog for obvious reasons.

It turns out that this same name caused protests from Muslims when a Nana Patekar film was so named. The producers obliged by adding a prefix to the title of the film. Raveena Tandon was the leading lady of this film.
Koirala says that she doesn't have any such pet.
