Govt sets up help lines

Mumbai: Making elaborate preparations to tight the impending threat of bird flu, the state government has set up helplines at Mantralaya (Ph-22027990), Deonar slaughter house (25515699) and BMC head office (22694727).

The state government has also alerted the market from selling chicken products. People have been advised against going near or touching the affected chickens. The disease can spread through water and air and hence any contact with the poultry products should be avoided. Navapur, the epicenter of the outbreak has been sealed off. Central and state paramedical teams are camping there along with senior bureaucrats and ministers. The state health minister Vimal Mundada said that the necessary precaution has been taken by the state government to prevent this disease. 50 extra beds have been arranged in the district hospitals, she said.
