Mumbai: Preeti Jain has recently moved the Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission here, seeking action against two police officers for alleged lapses in investigation of the rape case — which she initiated against Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar in 2004.

Preeti had lodged complaint of rape and intimidation against Bhandarkar at suburban Versova police station in July 2004. Her main grievance before the Human Rights Commission is that even after one and half years, police have not filed chargesheet against Bhandarkar. She filed this application on January 30 and the Commission has yet not taken up the case for hearing, her lawyer Nilesh Pavaskar said.

Accusing DCP Amitabh Gupta and police inspector Sankhe — investigating officer in the rape case against Bhandarkar— of dereliction of duty, Preeti urged the commission to serve a show-cause notice to them for failing to file chargesheet against Bhandarkar.
